What this site is
Crypto Florida covers cryptocurrency in one state, deliberately. There is no shortage of general crypto content on the internet, and almost none of it answers the questions a Florida resident actually has: what does the machine on my corner charge, which platforms are licensed to take my money here, what does the new kiosk law change, and what does Florida's lack of an income tax actually mean for a gain I might realise in fifteen years.
So we built 49 city guides, 26 county guides, and a set of statewide pages on buying, selling, custody, regulation, tax, fraud, gift cards and vouchers. Every page is originally researched and written for Florida rather than adapted from national content.
What we do not do
This matters more than what we do, so it goes near the top.
- We are not a bank, exchange, broker-dealer, money transmitter or kiosk operator. We never hold your funds, take deposits or execute trades.
- We are not an investment adviser. Nothing on this site is personalised financial advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset.
- We are not a law firm or a tax firm. We explain what statutes and IRS guidance say; we do not advise on your situation.
- We are not affiliated with the State of Florida or any government agency, and we do not speak for the Office of Financial Regulation, the Attorney General or any other body we cite.
- We do not predict prices, and we will not tell you how much to buy.
How we research
Every factual claim on this site falls into one of four categories, and we try to make clear which one you are reading.
Operator-published figures
Fee schedules, licence numbers and product terms taken from the operator's own pages, with the date we checked them. Example: CEX.IO Corp's Florida licence and NMLS ID 1804170.
Official records
Statutes, bill histories, regulator registers and enforcement announcements — the Florida Office of Financial Regulation, NMLS Consumer Access, the Florida Legislature, the Attorney General, the IRS and FBI IC3.
Our own modelling
Where we quote an "all-in" kiosk cost, that is our estimate combining a published fee with an observed exchange-rate markup. We say so every time, because it is an estimate rather than a published number.
Our opinion
Rankings, verdicts and "what we would do" passages are judgement, clearly framed as such. You should disagree with us where you have better information.
We date everything. Fee schedules change, licences get suspended, and kiosk networks shut down overnight — as roughly 156 Florida machines did in May 2026. A page that does not say when it was checked is not worth much in this subject.
How we are funded
Some outbound links to exchanges and other services are commercial partnerships, and we may be paid if you open an account. That is how the site exists.
It does not change our rankings, our fee data or what we write, and we say so on every page where it is relevant. Our rating method sets out the criteria we apply and the order we apply them in, so you can check our conclusions against our own stated method. Our editorial policy covers the rest.
Two specific commitments. First, we do not list unlicensed platforms at any ranking, regardless of what an affiliate programme pays — a verifiable Florida money transmitter licence is a hard gate, not a scoring factor. Second, every entry in our exchange rankings has a "what doesn't work" section, including our top pick.

Corrections
We will get things wrong. Fees move, laws change, and we are working across sixty-seven counties. If you find an error — a fee that has changed, a licence that has lapsed, a corridor we have mispriced, a legal point we have summarised badly — tell us and we will fix it and note the change.
We are particularly keen to hear from people who actually work in this industry in Florida: kiosk operators, compliance staff, CPAs, attorneys and law enforcement. Corrections from people who know more than us are the cheapest quality improvement available.
